It’s nice to work with likeminded, capable engineers who can help me contribute to the success of a project.

What do you do all day?

In a nutshell, I design and manage civil engineering infrastructures for three key local authorities.

What do you like best about your role?

Being able to make a positive contribution to highways and civil engineering schemes in my local community. A place where I and many colleagues live. I joined Redstart (or WSP UK as it was then) as they have a very good reputation for their work in South Wales. I’m really excited about upcoming projects, such as managing the Glamorgan infrastructure and ecology teams.

What qualities do you need to do your job well?

Understanding the client’s needs and managing their expectations. Effective programme management and communication are key to any scheme’s success. This benefits everyone as it ensures good working relationships and no nasty surprises.

Have you developed personally or professionally since you joined the organisation?

I’ve been given lots of opportunity to develop my people management skills, which has helped me professionally and personally. Before joining the organisation I worked on major highways and infrastructure schemes all over the UK.. I’m applying the skills I learned on those, here. All while learning lots of new ones.

Outside of work, what do you get up to?

I’m a big fan of clay pigeon shooting at my local clay club. I also go to the gym regularly to keep fit, and who doesn’t enjoy relaxing with my friends and family?
